2. WHERE IS MY GOD?

1.1Introduction

“Where is my God” is a question. Many times, this is a question of desperation. Again, it is a question when one is faced with multiple and challenging options of life. Again, it is a question asked when faced with rejection of life. Hardly would you ask this question when things are rosy, when surrounded with the Glory of God, when leaving in good health and good things of life or when tomorrow’s meal is already guaranteed.

1.2Why this question?

All races or human being created by God ask this question whenever the unexpected happens. Sometimes, you ask this question when you lack helper that you feel ordinarily is given and you suddenly realize that something is missing in your life. Putting all these scripturally, below are some of what may make you ask this question:

When you are faced with persecution – In 2 Timothy 3 verse 12, Apostle Paul said that those who will live godly in Christ shall suffer persecution. Especially for a growing Christian, when this occur, you may then ask yourself “why me?” or “where is the God that I serve?” or “Where is my God?” Even a General in the faith would ask similar question. That is when you find somebody saying that “with all I have done for God”, or “with all my effort in serving Christ, I forsake all and follow him and see what is happening to me”. The aim of the devil is to weaken your faith and pull you back. You must never accept defeat. Read 2 Timothy 8, verses 35 through 39

When Satan stands against you - 1 Chronicles 21:1. One of the devices or tricks of the devil used many times over and over against the Christian is to make him sin against God. Satan has used this weapon successfully many times against Christians. Unfortunately he is still using it against unsuspecting Christians even now.

Why did Satan succeed so well can be found in the following indices:

When we allow the position we occupy to dominate us, as seen in 1 Chronicles 21:1, when we are “spiritually sleeping”. Too lazy to confirm from God His will concerning the project we wanted to embark upon. When we are insensitive to the warning of the Holy Spirit, etc.

The consequences of Satan standing against children of God is to cause them to err as explained above thereby broken the edge of protection around them. We saw the consequence of what David did in 1 Chronicles 21:7

The sad part of this is that when this happens, we tend to feel let down by God and tell Him that he has not done enough to protect us or not given us enough warning signal!

May the Holy Spirit open our spiritual understanding (amen)

When you are spiritually weak – In Matthew 13:25, Jesus Christ said that “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way”. Spiritual weakness gives room for enemies to operate in ones’ live thereby cause havoc and leave traces of woes. Again, the consequence of this would lead one to ask where is my God

Irrespective of what may trigger or prompt the question, or make others to ask this question on your behalf, the Almighty God will answer his name on your behalf today (amen)
